bath bombs are a bit underrated, I think they’re fun but also really soothing. and I think your inner child would really appreciate a bath with some cute girly bath bombs 🙂

tidy up your space where you’ll mostly be doing your pampering

I think having a clean and organized environment encourages a clear and peaceful mind. I think we feel more put together when our space is clean. And especially when doing skincare or hair, having a clutter-free countertop makes that time spent feel more luxurious.

light your favorite candle

preferably with notes of vanilla, amber, or jasmine but that’s up to you! and if you are low on candles, I am giving you permission to let yourself buy a new one!

make yourself a warm drink

whether it’s tea, hot cocoa, matcha or chai. a yummy warm drink is essential for a pampering evening!

hair mask. face mask. hair oil.

if you find this daunting, something that motivates me to do my hair or skincare is to have a new product to try out. this makes it more fun and gives you something to look forward to. it can be a small, inexpensive product!

take a moment to journal

maybe you’ve been feeling anxious, drained, sad, pressured, unmotivated…whatever it may be, there’s no judgment here. maybe set a timer for 15 min or so and just release whatever you need to onto paper.

watch a comforting feel good movie

Devotion by Patti Smith

Patti Smith, a National Book Award-winning author, first presents an original and beautifully crafted tale of obsession—a young skater who lives for her art, a possessive collector who ruthlessly seeks his prize, a relationship forged of need both craven and exalted. She then takes us on a second journey, exploring the sources of her story. We travel through the South of France to Camus’s house, and visit the garden of the great publisher Gallimard where the ghosts of Mishima, Nabokov, and Genet mingle. Smith tracks down Simone Weil’s grave in a lonely cemetery, hours from London, and winds through the nameless Paris streets of Patrick Modiano’s novels. Whether writing in a café or a train, Smith generously opens her notebooks and lets us glimpse the alchemy of her art and craft in this arresting and original book on writing.

Burnt Sugar by Avni Doshi

In her youth, Tara was wild. She abandoned her loveless marriage to join an ashram, endured a brief stint as a beggar (mostly to spite her affluent parents), and spent years chasing after a dishevelled, homeless ‘artist’ – all with her young child in tow. Now she is forgetting things, mixing up her maid’s wages and leaving the gas on all night, and her grown-up daughter is faced with the task of caring for a woman who never cared for her. This is a love story and a story about betrayal. But not between lovers – between mother and daughter. Sharp as a blade and laced with caustic wit, Burnt Sugar unpicks the slippery, choking cord of memory and myth that binds two women together, making and unmaking them endlessly.

I Dreamed I Was a Very Clean Tramp by Richard Hell

From an early age, Richard Hell dreamed of running away. He arrived penniless in New York City at seventeen; ten years later he was a pivotal voice of the age of punk, cofounding such seminal bands as Television, The Heartbreakers, and Richard Hell and the Voidoids—whose song “Blank Generation” remains the defining anthem of the era, an era that would forever alter popular culture in all its forms. How this legendary downtown artist went from a bucolic childhood in the idyllic Kentucky foothills to igniting a movement that would take over New York and London’s restless youth culture—cementing CBGB as the ground zero of punk and spawning the careers of not only Hell himself, but a cohort of friends such as Tom Verlaine, Patti Smith, the Ramones, and Debby Harry—is a mesmerizing chronicle of self-invention, and of Hell’s yearning for redemption through poetry, music, and art. An acutely rendered, unforgettable coming-of-age story, I Dreamed I Was a Very Clean Tramp evokes with feeling, lyricism, and piercing intelligence both the world that shaped him and the world he shaped.

Mona by Pola Oloixarac

Mona, a Peruvian writer based in California, presents a tough and sardonic exterior. A woman writer of color treasured at her university for the flourish of rarefied diversity she brings, pokes fun at American academic culture and its fixation on identity. When she is nominated for “the most important literary award in Europe,” Mona sees a chance to escape her downward spiral of substance abuse and erotic distraction, so she heads to a village in Sweden. But she is stuck in the company of all her jet-lagged―and mostly male―competitors. Isolated as they are, the writers do what writers do: exchange compliments, nurse envy and private resentments, stab rivals in the back, and hop in bed together. All the while, Mona keeps stumbling across the mysterious traces of a violence she cannot explain. As her adventures unfold, Mona finds that she has not so much escaped her demons as locked herself up with them in the middle of nowhere. In Mona, Pola Oloixarac paints a hypnotic, scabrous, and ultimately jaw-dropping portrait of a woman facing down a hipster elite to which she does and does not belong. A survivor of both patronization and bizarre sexual encounters, Mona is a new kind of feminist. But her past won’t stay past, and strange forces are working to deliver her the test of a lifetime.

Eve’s Hollywood by Eve Babitz

Journalist, party girl, bookworm, artist, muse: by the time she’d hit thirty, Eve Babitz had played all of these roles. Immortalized as the nude beauty facing down Duchamp and as one of Ed Ruscha’s Five 1965 Girlfriends, Babitz’s first book showed her to be a razor-sharp writer with tales of her own. Eve’s Hollywood is an album of  vivid snapshots of Southern California’s haute bohemians, of outrageously beautiful high-school ingenues and enviably tattooed Chicanas, of rock stars sleeping it off at the Chateau Marmont. And though Eve’s prose might appear careening, she’s in control as she takes us on a ride through an LA of perpetual delight, from a joint serving the perfect taquito, to the corner of La Brea and Sunset where we make eye contact with a roller-skating hooker, to the Watts Towers. This “daughter of the wasteland” is here to show us that her city is no wasteland at all but a glowing landscape buffeted by earthquakes and the Santa Ana winds—and every bit as seductive as she is.

15 Empowering Body Love Affirmations You Have to Hear

“It is beautiful to express love and even more beautiful to feel it.” – Dejan Stejanovic

Affirmations can be incredibly helpful in a healing process. A sad truth is that us women are always bombarded with these evolving messages of what we’re supposed to look like. It really takes a conscious decision to say, “you know what, I’m not going to listen to anything else, I’m perfectly fine the way I am. I don’t need to look like anyone else, I am myself and that is enough.” And let me tell you, if you are even thinking of that decision, that is truly something commendable and I am applauding you. I can only hope you are applauding yourself as well, as you should be. We tend to forget these things and it’s only fair we remind ourselves until we have it engrained in our minds and hearts.

  • I am beautiful regardless of my weight
  • I am worthy of love regardless of my weight
  • I am thankful for my body
  • My body is just as valid and just as beautiful as anyone else’s
  • I am so much more than my body
  • I am at peace with my body
  • I deserve to have a healthy relationship with my body
  • I am grateful for everything my body does for me
  • My body deserves kindness
  • I trust my body
  • I listen to my body
  • My body is always doing its best for me
  • I am willing to love my body the way that it is
  • Food nourishes my body and I deserve to eat when I’m hungry
  • I accept my body and I accept myself

If healing your eating habits is something that goes hand in hand with healing your relationship with your body, there is a digital food journal on our Etsy shop to guide you in your journey. It’s really simple, straight to the point, so you don’t get overwhelmed (and it’s super cute). It comes with more affirmations like these and it’s perfect to aid in your body goals. Whatever your journey is, sending you so much love and light. ♡
