Step by Step Guide to Achieve Victoria’s Secret Angel Makeup!

“I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls.” – Audrey Hepburn

In 2018, Charlotte Tilbury was appointed lead makeup artist of the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and her words on the signature look she created were “It’s an angelic filter to enhance what nature naturally gave you and make you feel like a beautiful, celestial angel… A look that lights up the runway and casts a magic makeup spell on the world!!”

While every year there are slight variations in the makeup looks they did, the iconic bombshell aura remains present throughout. “This look is all about enhancing the most beautiful, dreamy angel version of you.” So here are the exact products they used and their more affordable dupes, to give you options! But either way prepare to feel angelic…

Disclaimer: None of the links included are affiliate links.

PREP

The very first step (other than putting on a pink satin robe) is to prep your face.

Backstage for the angels, they had sheet masks, eye creams, moisturizers, and primers all curtesy of Charlotte Tilbury. All of these products have ingredients like niacinamide, shea butter, hyaluronic acid, and rose hip oil; all meant to give you a dewy, plump, and youthful canvas for your makeup. While all these products are highly rated (and pricey), feel free to use your favorite skincare items, preferably hydrating and imperfection-blurring to give you a flawless base.

EYES

Now that our faces are freshly prepped, let’s move onto our eyes! What Charlotte Tilbury was aiming for was mesmerizing, seductive eyes which she achieved with bronzy rose gold eyes.

An essential technique she used was adding rose gold eyeshadow underneath your lower lash line to enlarge and define the models’ eyes. What was used on the VS angels was the Charlotte Tilbury Eyeshadow Palette, a warm, reddy browny eyeshadow palette with champagne inspired metallic tones to enhance the eyes so they look wider and more mesmeric! An equally gorgeous and more affordable dupe would be the Colourpop Sorbet Eyeshadow Palette Quad. With using small eyeshadow palette like these, you have all the colors you need so it makes the eye look much less intimidating to achieve.

Another very key technique is to use a rose gold cream eyeshadow on top to make your eyes pop even more using the Charlotte Tilbury Rose Gold Eyeshadow or the about-face Fractal Glitter Eye Paint in the shade Smolder.

A true bombshell must be able to bat her pretty lashes!

But before we add mascara, we’re going to curl our lashes and apply brown eyeliner. Backstage they used the Charlotte Tilbury The Classic Eye Powder Pencil in Shimmering Brown to create a subtly smoked out winged eyeliner. For a nearly identical effect, you can use the NYX Epic Wear Eyeliner Pencil in Brown Shimmer for less than half the price. And finally to complete the eye look, use the drugstore fan-favorite L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara for voluminous, flirty lashes.

FACE

Now onto the face!

This look is all about a healthy, happy, complexion of an angel. At the time, they opted for the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter, which is a complexion booster, inspired by the glow of Hollywood lights. The original blush they used is sadly discontinued but it was a super creamy and pigmented blush stick in the shade Las Salinas, a bright rose-pink. And finally to bronze, highlight, and get that dreamy catwalk glow. they opted for the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow Palette.

For bombshells on a budget!

An infamous dupe for the Hollywood Flawless Filter is the e.l.f. Halo Glow Liquid Filter and note neither of these products are a foundation alone but you can lightly mix them with whatever blendable foundation you have for a gorgeous glowy base.

Charlotte Tilbury did mention lightly tapping a pressed setting powder in the T-zone area to prevent getting oily which you can do with the lovely Wet n Wild Bare Focus Finishing Powder. There’s so many gorgeous affordable blushes but the e.l.f. Putty Blush in Tahiti looks almost exact to me and lastly a great dupe for the Filmstar Palette would be the Natasha Deanna Mini Bronze & Glow.

LIPS

No Victoria’s Secret angel makeup look would be complete without flirty, kissable lips.

And just like the rest of the makeup, we’re going for a healthy-looking, glowy, and flattering lip. First you’re going to line your lips with a pinky brown lip liner. They of course used the the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Pillow Talk but an amazing and almost-exact dupe would be the Colourpop Lippie Pencil in BBF2.

After lining you’re going to go in with a gloss and they actually had two glosses they would use depending on the model. They’d either use the Charlotte Tilbury Collagen Lip Bath Gloss in Refresh Rose which is a very light almost-clear pink one or in the shade Pillow Talk, a deeper pink one. Two perfect dupes to give you that flirty but healthy lip would be the CoverGirl Yummy Lip Gloss in Coconuts About You and Twilight Beam.

And voilà! what did you think? Will you be trying out Victoria’s Secret inspired makeup? Do you think you will try any of these products! Let me know in the comments! ♡

I choose a perfume with special care when meeting someone for the first time. Sometimes, in order to make a stronger impression, I might avoid too much makeup or accessories, instead focusing on wearing a special perfume. When choosing a perfume, I tend to look at the bottle as well.” Lisa has said she loves English Pear & Freesia by Jo Malone which is a fruity floral luscious perfume with notes of pear, freesia, patchouli, and amber, that is meant to be layered for a unique and customized scent! A more affordable option that is just as gorgeous would be Floral Pear by Dossier. Another one of Lisa’s favorites is Black Tie by Celine which is an amber woody unisex fragrance that is powdery and luxurious with notes of vanilla, moss, cedar, and musk. A great dupe would be Bohemian Water by ALT Fragrances.

Jennie’s Fav ♡ Paris Deauville Eau de Toilette by Chanel

People around me know this already, I get scent-sick very easily. So, I never liked perfume scents. I tend to like fruity, lemony, citrus, subtle jasmine, or baby powder scent…I think I like scents that are very close to nature. Wood scent or earthy scent. Natural scents, I think that’s what I prefer.” Jennie’s must have fragrance that she absolutely adores is Paris Deauville by Chanel. Paris Deauville is a soft but lively and refreshing unisex scent that is both elegant and versatile with notes of basil, lime, bergamot, Sicilian orange, and rose. A gorgeous and spot-on dupe for this perfume would be Forbidden Grass by Oakcha.

Guide For A Lovely And Comforting At-Home Pamper Day

“Time passes so fast. Make time to be still.” – Lailah Gifty Akita

it’s always a good idea to pamper yourself. no matter how accomplished you feel or perhaps don’t feel, taking time to nourish yourself is simply never time wasted. and with a few of these essential steps, you can have the most perfect pamper day yet to feel renewed and like a princess.

put on a matching pj set

preferably silk or satin. second option would be a pointelle set. something super soft and pretty that makes you feel like the main character…

run a bath with your favorite bath bombs

bath bombs are a bit underrated, I think they’re fun but also really soothing. and I think your inner child would really appreciate a bath with some cute girly bath bombs 🙂

tidy up your space where you’ll mostly be doing your pampering

I think having a clean and organized environment encourages a clear and peaceful mind. I think we feel more put together when our space is clean. And especially when doing skincare or hair, having a clutter-free countertop makes that time spent feel more luxurious.

light your favorite candle

preferably with notes of vanilla, amber, or jasmine but that’s up to you! and if you are low on candles, I am giving you permission to let yourself buy a new one!

make yourself a warm drink

whether it’s tea, hot cocoa, matcha or chai. a yummy warm drink is essential for a pampering evening!

hair mask. face mask. hair oil.

if you find this daunting, something that motivates me to do my hair or skincare is to have a new product to try out. this makes it more fun and gives you something to look forward to. it can be a small, inexpensive product!

take a moment to journal

maybe you’ve been feeling anxious, drained, sad, pressured, unmotivated…whatever it may be, there’s no judgment here. maybe set a timer for 15 min or so and just release whatever you need to onto paper.

watch a comforting feel good movie

preferably something you’ve already seen before. rewatching something you already know and love is always comforting but if you need girly movie recommendations, check here! https://tinyurl.com/d7zra6m4

do you think you’ll be a self care pamper night soon?! if so, what are your must-have essentials for a self care night? let me know how you unwind in the comments and please always, take care of yourself and be kind to yourself. sending hugs.♡
