In case you need permission to unwind, have self care day or evening, and watch a sweet movie, I am here to give you that permission. You deserve to take a moment of rest and watch a girly feel-good movie. You may have seen some of these before or maybe you haven’t in a really long time or forgot they existed but either way, these nostalgic movies are worth the watch. ♡

Burlesque (2010)

Ali (Christina Aguilera), a small-town gal with a great voice, leaves a troubled life behind and follows her dreams to Los Angeles. She lands a job as a cocktail waitress at the Burlesque Lounge, a once-majestic theater that houses an inspired musical revue led by Tess (Cher), the proprietor. Ali vows to perform there and, with the help of a savvy stage manager and a gender-bending host, she makes the leap from bar to stage, helping restore the club’s former glory.

Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009)

Struggling with her debilitating obsession with shopping and the sudden collapse of her income source, Rebecca Bloomwood (Isla Fisher) unintentionally lands a job writing for a financial magazine after a drunken letter-mailing mix-up. Ironically writing about the consumer caution of she hasn’t heeded, Rebecca’s innovative comparisons and unconventional metaphors for economics grant her critical acclaim, public success, and the admiration of her supportive boss Luke Brandon (Hugh Dancy). But as she draws closer to her ultimate goal of writing for renowned fashion magazine Alette, she questions her true ambitions and must determine if overcoming her “shopaholic” condition will bring her real happiness.

The Intern (2015)

Starting a new job can be a difficult challenge, especially if you’re already retired. Looking to get back into the game, 70-year-old widower Ben Whittaker (Robert De Niro) seizes the opportunity to become a senior intern at an online fashion site. Ben soon becomes popular with his younger co-workers, including Jules Ostin (Anne Hathaway), the boss and founder of the company. Whittaker’s charm, wisdom, and sense of humor help him develop a special bond and growing friendship with Jules.

Maid in Manhattan (2002)

The story of Marisa Ventura (Jennifer Lopez), a single mother born and bred in the boroughs of New York City, who works as a maid in a first-class Manhattan hotel. By a twist of fate and mistaken identity, Marisa meets Christopher Marshall (Ralph Fiennes), heir to a political dynasty, who believes that she is a guest at the hotel. Fate steps in and throws the pair together for a magical night of romance. When Marisa’s true identity is revealed, the two find that they are worlds apart.

Big Eyes (2014)

In the late 1950s and early ’60s, artist Walter Keane (Christoph Waltz) achieves unbelievable fame and success with portraits of saucer-eyed waifs. However, no one realizes that his wife, Margaret (Amy Adams), is the real painter behind the brush. Although Margaret is horrified to learn that Walter is passing off her work as his own, she is too meek to protest too loudly. It isn’t until the Keanes’ marriage comes to an end and a lawsuit follows that the truth finally comes to light.

Mary is a modern Cinderella with dancing shoes instead of glass shoes. Joey is a charming newcomer to the school looking for a girl to shower with love. Maybe Mary is the right one.

Yes Man (2008)

Carl Allen (Jim Carrey) is stuck in a rut with his negative ways. Then he goes to a self-help seminar and learns to unleash the power of yes. Living in the affirmative leads him to all sorts of amazing and transforming experiences; he gets a job promotion, and even finds a new romance. But Carl finds that too much of anything, even positive thinking, is not necessarily a good thing.

Yours, Mine, & Ours (2005)

When Coast Guard Adm. Frank Beardsley (Dennis Quaid) decides to move his family of eight children back to his old hometown, he encounters handbag designer Helen North (Rene Russo), an old flame from high school. Immediately, sparks fly between the two, and marriage is proposed. But Frank isn’t the only one with kids to worry about — Helen has a total of 10. Right away, the children have no intention of playing nicely, and together they decide to sabotage their parents’ relationship.
